An eye-opening 3-0 start following a tumultuous 3-15 season has more than a few across southern Manitoba and the entire CFL landscape taken aback by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and their surge out of the gate to start 2014. But dont think for a second the clubs rookie head coach is surprised. Answered in language reminiscent of a coach delivering his halftime speech in a Hollywood underdog story, Winnipegs Mike OShea responded matter-of-factly when asked if he was surprised by his teams 3-0 start. "No. No. This is what you put the work in for. This is why you make the decisions you make. This is why you keep the players you keep, and this is why you coach them as hard as you do. You do it because these guys want to win, and you need to give them your best shot," OShea told TSN 1290 Radio. "The group of guys weve got in here and how quickly theyve bought in to what were trying to do and accepted some change is just a credit to those guys. The guys in the room are the ones that get it done on the field." But neither the coach or the players are resting on the laurels from a quick start to the season. "Were not satisfied with what weve done so far," said OShea. "Were satisfied with the fact weve got six points (in the standings), but when we look at the film and we see the number of mistakes and the number of penalties and the decisions were making that cost us plays and drives, were not satisfied with that by any stretch of the imagination. Were not pleased." Early success and finding it were part of OSheas plan to help turn the Blue Bombers franchise around and get it back on a track to sustained success. "I said it right from the start. We need to win and win early to get this started. To get whatever this buy-in, the feeling, to be able to exhale and let stuff go from the prior year. But, once again, I wasnt here last year so I dont now how beaten-down they were." The last couple years in Winnipeg have been rough on those in the football club, and thats putting things mildly. OShea wants to ensure any lingering negativity from seasons past is wiped away, and that veteran Blue Bombers are ready to move on. "The idea that its not here we go again. I think with some teams you can sense it. You can sense the attitude just changes to, oh, here we go again, and it was important that we got rid of that very quickly. This isnt, here we go again. This is something completely different. We should be past that stage now. With these two last wins, coming from behind, I think were past that now, so whatever that next challenge is it gets revealed in the next tight game. Weve got to be able to conquer that too." That next challenge will likely come in the first marquee matchup of the 2014 CFL season, as the Week 4 schedule kicks off with a battle of the undefeated Thursday night. The 3-0 Edmonton Eskimos enter Winnipegs Investors Group Field looking to knock off the 3-0 Blue Bombers and grab sole possession of first place in the West. -- In addition to the return of defensive tackle Zach Anderson from a heel contusion, the only major change to Winnipegs lineup this week is at boundary wide receiver. Aaron Kellys left knee injury, deemed by Mike OShea as "a pain management" issue, will keep the receiver on the sidelines. Starting in his place will be 34-year-old Romby Bryant, who makes his first start in Blue and Gold since he was traded to Calgary back in 2009. "It feels good to get out there and get another chance, and play where it all started at," said Bryant, who began his CFL career with the Blue Bombers in 2008. "Thats how Im looking at it, is coming full circle. Do it for the fans that embraced me when I first got here." Bryant was released by the Toronto Argonauts earlier this season and signed with Winnipeg as a free agent in late June. Pavel Bure Jersey . Obasi chested the ball past one defender, prodded it past another and then rounded the keeper before scoring from a tight angle in the 16th minute. Seconds after the restart, Obasi set up Klaas Jan Huntelaar for the Dutchmans 11th goal from 13 games this season. Brock Boeser Jersey . The motion to expand the stadiums capacity passed through by a count of 39-3, with Toronto mayor Rob Ford being among those in opposition. http://www.officialcanuckspro.com/Henrik...canucks-jersey/. The third-ranked Buckeyes were down eight points to Notre Dame with less than 2 minutes to play and their offence was nowhere to be found. Bo Horvat Jersey .Y. -- It was as if Matt Moulson never left the New York Islanders. Markus Naslund Jersey . Stevenson scored the first three goals of the game in the first period for Regina (35-22-6), which has won eight of its last 10 games. Patrick DAmico added two for the Pats, Braden Christoffer had a single and Morgan Klimchuk chipped in a goal and four assists.Although Semyon Varlamov hasnt played at the level he did for the Colorado Avalanche last season, the resurgent goaltender is starting to show signs of leading a potential playoff push. Coming off one of the best efforts in NHL history, Varlamov is likely to get another chance to continue his improved play as Colorado seeks its fourth win in five games tonight against the visiting Ottawa Senators. Viewers in the Senators region can watch the game on TSN5 at 8:30pm et/9:30pm at, or listen live on TSN Radio 1200 Ottawa. Ottawa also hopes to make a run at the playoffs, but its headed in the other direction after losing five of seven. The Senators have scuffled offensively on the road, scoring six goals while going 1-2-1 in their past four. Mike Hoffman had the teams only score on 42 shots in Tuesdays 2-1 shootout loss at Philadelphia to open a four-game trip. Its something that you have to start picking up two points, said center Kyle Turris, who has done his part with two goals and two assists over his past four games. Clarke MacArthur has two goals and four assists in his last four meetings with the Avs, including the go-ahead score in the third period of a 5-3 win Oct. 16 when the Senators faced Pickard and Berra. Varlamov was one of the main reasons the Avalanche cruised to the Central Division title in 2013-14, finishing with a franchise-record 41 victories to go along with a 2.41 goals-against average in being named a finalist for the Vezina Trophy. He struggled to continue that success in his first 15 starts this season, going 4-6-5 with a 3.21 GAA while attempting to play through a groin injury. However, hes made strides toward getting untracked by posting a 1.79 GAA in winning four of his last six outings. With 54 stops in Tuesdays 2-0 win at Chicago, Varlamov posted the second- most saves in franchise history behind Ron Tugnutts 70 with Quebec in 1991. He also became the third goalie in the expansion erra with a shutout of 54 or more saves.dddddddddddd Varlamov added the league mark for most stops in a regular-season shutout on the road since shots on goal became an official statistic in 1955-56. One things for sure, he could not lose his focus, coach Patrick Roy told the teams official website. He had plenty of work out there. Varly is one of our best players, and if we want a chance to get back in the playoff picture it is going to start from him. Roys squad, which won despite getting outshot by 30, will try to keep climbing out of the division cellar as it looks for its fifth win in eight home games. The Avs (16-16-8) have won three straight there over Ottawa (16-15-8). With Calvin Pickard demoted and Reto Berra not impressing, Varlamov is expected to get another start. He won both matchups with the Senators last season behind a 1.99 GAA. John Mitchell, who had a pair of assists against the Blackhawks, has scored in his last two versus Ottawa. Captain Gabriel Landeskog has two goals and five assists in his past four meetings, but he has one goal in his last 16 games overall. Craig Anderson, who is 4-1-2 with a 1.68 GAA in his last seven starts, is expected to get the nod for the Senators. He was 0-2-1 with a 6.35 GAA against Colorado before making 28 saves in October. Marc Methot will return to the Senators lineup for just the third time this season. It will be his 400th career game. Curtis Lazar, fresh off his gold medal at the World Juniors, will not play for Ottawa.
